Formerly an important stopover for caravanners on the Silk Road, Ladakh is landlocked between the Karakoram mountain range and that of the Himalayas: it is isolated from the world for much of the year. After flying over the peaks of the Himalayas, from Delhi, you will land in Leh, the main city of Ladakh. This city, located in the Indus Valley, is surrounded by arid landscapes dotted with oases. The Chhorten, Buddhist architectural buildings that hold the sacred words of Buddhism, line the valley and protect the villages from evil spirits. You will probably attend a puja in a monastery, a ritual ceremony during which the monks sing Mantras for peace in the world. From this trip to Ladakh, country of sun and serenity, you will remember in addition to the grandiose landscapes the smiles and the hospitality of its inhabitants.
